What is product attributes?
Product attributes are the structured facts that describe a product, such as size, material, voltage or certification, each stored in its own field. Thread type, color and pack quantity are attributes too, and they are what let customers filter a catalog, compare items and find substitutes.
How it works
A product description is text written for people to read; attributes are data that a website, search engine or ERP can sort and filter. With complete, consistent attributes, a buyer can narrow 5,000 gloves to the 12 that are nitrile, powder-free and size large.
Product attributes example
A search for a 1-inch brass ball valve rated for 600 psi returns only items with all four attributes filled in, so a valve missing its pressure rating never appears.
